Attica - Lyda Marie Helms, 100, 915 N US Hwy 41, Veedersburg died at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan 5, 1999 in Country Care Nursing Home, Williamsport where she had been a resident the past five months. Born Jan 27, 1898 in Shawnee Township, Fountain County, she was the daughter of Edward G. and Lizzie Quigle Haverstick. She married Zone Allen Helms Dec 24, 1932. He preceded her in death Jan 8, 1977. She attended Rob Roy School and remained in the Aylesworth area her entire life. She and husband were long time farmers. She was a member of Fountain County Garden Club, Bridge Club for 50 years and a member of Union Christian Church. Survivors include daughter, Betty Jean (Victor) Kerkhove, Attica; son Gale (LaDonna) Helms, Veedersburg, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Retha Palin and Ruth Grimes. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maus funeral Home, Attica with Rev. Grover WIlliams officiating. Burial in Union Christian Cemetery. Memorial can be made to Union Christian Church.
